not just owners that think they know it all.......
not horseplayers that bet on the races.....
and not couch experts....
How many out there actually have taken a colt to the paddock
and warmed him up on the track in colors.....and then after the race
set him/her up in wraps/poultice , fed a hot mash and watered for the nite....
this includes full paddock...and mucking the stall properly....
Just wondering ...and I know there are some real players out there....
Question #2
Have you ever gone to the sale and bought a yearling with your own money?
groomed him thru the season and made the races....say at Roosevelt/Yonkers.....or even a fair track.
Lets separate the men from the boys here.......
Inquiring minds would like to know.
IF you start hollerin' that will speak volumes......
so just expect real horseman to respond.
Its OK if u have done none of the above....you are still OK.
Fire away......

Owners are not horsemen they are owners
Horsemen are few and far between..
I can only prob name five real horsemen I know
I've been racing for 17 yrs.
The words. TRAINERS AND HORSEMEN are thrown are way to loosely these fuckin days.
.. just cus u sit a jog ..enter a horse u are not a trainer
Just cus one can be lucky enough to have money buy a horse doesn't make them HORSEMEN.. either
Good thread tmbz1

I was a real horsemen before my health wouldn`t allow it anymore.
-
Hmmm, sounds like the GROOMS are the actual horsemen, their the ones that are ACTUALLY in the barn at 5 am, i know a lot of trainers that are never in the barn and walking around with Suringes, those people are just in it to try to make a quick buck, or easy money, here today, gone tomorrow....

Been there done it all still doing it. Nothing better than watching or driving one across the line first. No better high in life than that
-
I never sat behind one,im a grandstand goof

Been in the biz a long time, have done it all. Today there are few real horsemen left. Chemist and vets have replaced horseman.

Lesstired was a nice overnight race horse. A regular campaigner at RR and Yonkers in the late 1970's.

All I know is that harness racing needs more 'grandstand goofs' especially since quite a few already post on horseplop!

I used to train and drive. Now just own and breed. Still active in selection of babies

As I figured out a long time ago, not many real horsemen here.

No I did not redboard this! Some can dish it out but can't take it. SAD, ISN'T IT!
Glad to be back--thank you! This forum has become very stale and boring!
STALE AND BORING WILL LIVEN UP AGAIN WHEN U TOSSED AGAIN

More than you might think. But a LOT of them do NOT post. Some for fear of reprisal, some just want to be in the shadows.

Better to stay in the shadows until you feel that something is worthy of a reply rather than bantering with the goofs!

Most real horsemen are not the intellectual type and couldn't spell dog if you spotted them the D and the O so it is better to be silent and thought the fool, rather than opening ones mouth and removing all doubt
-
agree
-
I thought I saw a midget in the paddock one day but I forgot to ask questions. if you asked this question in the paddock you would get some pretty dirty looks. no horseman will knowingly give his identity and say he or she posts here
-
Just like they stay silent when the commission turns it`s head for Allard or Burke even though they are getting away with stealing their money!
-
Yeah Einstein, real intelligent! Like anything will happen when Joe blow jumps up and cries foul! Really! if some of these ass holes would ever listen to themselves!
-
Thank you EDDIE!
Not going to lose any sleep over it!
STILL FUCKING CATS?

I agree. There are many 'old timer' horsemen in the business today that have made a "decent" living. Easy to spot a horseman from those who have bounced like 'nomads' from track to track just to survive.
I SIGNED THE FRONT OF THE CHECKS YOU SIGNED THE BACK
-
Thank you EDDIE! All I know is that I enjoyed my time in the business, and met many people and made new friends too. Never complained about my "bills" and paid them on time too.
WHATS WITH THE NAME POSTING? WE NEVER MET DID WE?
