Unfortunate. Saw on local media yesterday more peta-sympathetic folks protesting at Saratoga Race Course than ever. Used to be one or 2; now a whole gaggle. Times they are a changin.

Well. Perhaps people shouldn't put unfit horses on the track. PETA is, IMO, insane. However..we do not need to give them an excuse. You can't protest something that isn't an actual problem. Well..you can, but you probably (hopefully) won't get far.

If anyone saw that horse warm up and thought he should go to the gate, you are blind, or a crook who does not belong in racing.

Yet owners flock to to Burke because of his "talent".  ngc3 Sounds like an owner issue that needs addressed along with the trainer.

I wasnt aware a horse had died and wasnt able to  watch the race live. I will today watch the replay to see myself. Why wouldnt the vet or connections step in prerace if the horse was clearly not right. Very sad and odd.

On peta, i wasnt commenting on whether their concerns are well placed at times, just pointing out that i found their growing support worthy of remarking. Of course one cant read the transcript description of the mistreatment of horses in the allard/grasso/navarro criminal cases and not  be deeply disturbed by it. The prosecuter post trial claimed allard maintained a small pharmacy of drugs.

Ill address the elephant in the rm; is the implication that prerace action and dearth of media coverage here is due to obviously influential connections?

It doesn't matter if the horse was found to have a needle hanging from his neck when they got to him,the USTA would proclaim that he landed on it when he fell! Any investigation would be equivalent to the Vatican investigating the Pope! Time has proven that anything that happens in that outfit is dismissed by blaming an employee! What other industry will allow a member to decide when it's convenient to serve a

Never saw the horse go down into the turn after the race.  He was clearly laboring and fighting to stay upright.

I guess maybe Mr. Williams should be looked into for being the hypocritical President of the USTA, but then again, Burke is his biggest buyer at Harrisburg, and his relationships at Hangover Boot Farms have grown since boarding broodmares and standing stallions. How is it again, Williams who bought out all others from Hangover, and the Sales Company is able to simultaneously able to preside over the single legislative body for the sport? Does no one care?

One can't help but wonder if that came from the same bottle that Bythemissle reacted to prior to the C.C. final in Canada, necessitating a scratch along with a delay in his seaon! 11.wp

clearly was struggling at the half when he tried to clear to front
good thing yannick popped the plugs and gave him a few taps to keep him going and push him to the point of collapse

USTA has nothing to do with any suspensions or when they are served. That is all on the state racing commission   Even if USTA suspended someone membership as soon as PA gives them a license the USTA has to acknowledge them. They are only a record keeping organization

This what they say, but they still try and attempt to regulate

The only things they have ever been able to regulate is the breed regulations and approved sulky list. The do have a model rule book but each state can choose to adopt or deny any rule

Is anyone aware of anything that came out of this (perhaps a statement by Gural or anything)? I haven't seen anything but just curious, and assuming the answer is no.
