luc.....he could not have overlaid that field by any more talent. at some point every race becomes a mathematical equation of time and distance. sears made a mathematical miscalculation

It’s doibtful but perhaps we will see a switcheroo

Sears on green manalishi
And tetrick In greenshoe

Tetrick best driver right now IMO

I’m always a Dave Miller fan
But just hasn’t done so well compared to tetrick lately

the only defense ill make is that greenshoe may be a little unstable leaving the gate. he made breaks as a 2 yo in half his starts and i havenl seen sears leave with him since i started watching him a few stars back. if so, thats a big achelies heal. no early speed will kill a horse in big races

I can see how people can be upset about his drive but Sears wasn't about to race this horse three wide the whole final turn and risk him breaking stride.  Did the horses status take a little hit, maybe but the ultimate goal is to keep this horses head right and win the Hambo. Melander's quote was probably soon after the race and understandably would be a bit critical and pissed off.  A driver switch would be the biggest overreaction there could be.

Melander has all rights to be pissed going for 500k but I don’t see a driver change coming

The horse lost out on $125K because of Sears driving the horse way too conservatively.  Let's remember the type of horse he was last year with his behavior issues.  Sears knows how to handle him and the horse is becoming more of a professional on the track.  Let's not try anything stupid and have the horse revert back to his old ways.  He'll make plenty of that money that he lost out on the rest of the year and in the breeding shed.
