Title: Mohawk Friday
Post by: whiptherabbit on April 13, 2018, 08:47:36 AM
Race#2-#6 Amoreuse Hanover 7-2 ML Should beat this bunch easy just don't expect to get the morning line odds.

Race#5-#8 Party Beach 8-1 ML This is a horse much better equipped to race at Mohawk, utilizing her late kick. Just need some speed up front to set it up for her.

Race#10-#1 Forever Lisa 4-1 ML Very impressive qualifier and hasn't faced this weak a field in a long time.

Did you watch the qualifier of Forever Liza or are you just reading the chart. I had her as 95% off stride qualifying. I don't disagree though that it is a bunch she should handle if right

Yes I watched the qualifier, whoever just reads chart lines in a qualifier is doing themselves wrong. She put in a bobble in the first turn & was rough for a few strides about a 100 yards after Mayotte pulled out in a tight spot. She stayed on stride, paced hard at the wire & most importantly, isn't in with much. tmbz1

tough place to play tonight but if you must be cautious
heard the track was deep and cuppy last night and I can tell you the weather here is total crap
some combination of rain/sleet,hail,snow coming in the next 12 hours as temps drop

If watching the qually you saw her totally offstride or as you put it 95% then I would suggest not watching the quallies and using it in your handicapping, what rabbit explained was the way I saw it too.

Well after watching it again just now instead of last week I just see her jumping shadows that shouldn't be much of a concern at all come 11:00 or actually anytime at all today. I always thought that horse was going to be better than the hanger she turned out to be. Good luck if you play her.

Watch her at the head of the lane she makes a little jump over the first shadow then a big jump over the second shadow that was laying across the track. Up to today I had only seen the qualifier once in real time. Now that I've seen it and know why she did what she did I'm not worried about it.

She absolutely jumps the shadows of the 2 poles on the last bend.  tmbz1

iceman you are right
I used to be amazed at the sound of them pounding on woodbine
Mohawk is a much better surface once it gets in proper shape

The 7/8 Mohawk is in the exact location of the old 5/8 Mohawk, so I'm not sure where you're going with that comparison.
Unless they moved the escarpment.

And you play the horses. How do you explain going from a 5/8's to a 7/8's without reconstruction, the whole track was redone.

He mentions the effect of the location due to the escarpment. I do play horses. Enough to know the location  did not change relative to the escarpment.

The track was rebuilt and reconfigured thus the base was altered. The escarpment is subject to all different kinds of weather and temps. Relatively a new base then expect the unexpected.

Yur a moron.

I saw something about that in the off time

You know any more about this?

From what I remember reading was that when the change was made all of the drainage was redone and the composition of the base and surface was changed. I saw a above view and the track is like a tear drop with the large sweeping far turn.

Yes that’s the way it’s always been
Long sweeping last turn
I like it like that
