I never ever hung Case out when he wanted the lead. You let him go and you knew he would carry you the whole mile. He could get a horse to do things even the horse didn't think he could. He had some problems, obviously, but i have a tremendous amount of respect or him as a driver and horseman

i agree Lew Williams, There were a ton of extremely good, bordering on great 1/2 milers and now a lot of drivers would get lost.

LEW WILLIAMS MAY HAVE BEEN THE GREATEST HARNESS DRIVER OF ALL TIME. HE OBVIOUSLY NEVER ACHIEVED THAT TITLE AND RESPECT DUE TO HIS ISSUES BUT TRUTHFULLY LEW IF LEW COULD SIT BEHIND A HORSE---HE COULD IN FACT MAKE THE HORSE PERFORM TO THE ULTIMATE LEVEL.
IN MY OPINION, AND I HAVE BEEN AROUND AND HAVE SEE MANY OF THE GREAT DRIVERS---I HAVE NEVER SEEN A MORE NATURAL TALENT THAN LEW WILLIAMS! HE WAS MEANT TO BE THE BEST HARNESS DRIVER OF ALL TIME AND SADLY HIS DEMONS STOPPED HIM FROM ACHIEVING GREAT SUCCESS.
IN A VERY SHORT TIME PERIOD LEW CAME FROM NO WHERE AND FEEL FREE TO WATCH SOME VIDEOS OF WHATA BARON, APRILS SKIPPER, NEW LEW, PRAIRE WALNUT, BARON GERARD, NATIVE AMBER, SEATRAIN , COURAGEOUS LADY ----AS WELL AS MANY OF THE SAL GATI HORSES FROM OHIO---ASK ANY OF THE GREAT DRIVERS AND THEY WILL TELL YOU OF THE RESPECT THEY HAD FOR LEW!

Sal Gati had pretty good horses in Ohio, and raced at The Meadowlands back in the day..Names like Pat's Gypsy, Midas Almahurst, and Lloyd R Adios until he sold him to a trainer in NY..Went away for many years for drug distribution..I think Lew Williams may have gotten to drive his good horses but I'm pretty sure Gati wasn't exactly a positive influence in his life.

Campbell easiest question ever next!!!!!!!

Herve.....Case
[/quoteguy was great they called him brother lew williams bought april skipper and brother lou came in to drive him!!!! What i liked about him is that he would play with the fans and have fun!!! None of that anymore
-
Campbell easiest question ever next!!!!!!!
JC probably could have been best 1/2 miler ever as he adapted to any track he raced at but he will always be synonymous with The Meadowlands and a mile track .. no shame in that ..

Walter coulg make on go like no other!!
-
Walter, hands down
remember the judges made him select who he was going to drive BEFORE the draws at Yonkers when he just dominated them
who else in history had to do that?
and he still dominated

Come on folks.. get a clue.. Peter Paraoli. And Easy Ben. Best half mile duo ever. And dont say you never heard of them. True legends
-
That’s some old Freehold trivia . Yeah and Pete would sit on one side of the bike and the horse always ran out looking into the infield . Great speed combo but the track starter would catch him some days with Andy’s bye bye . Poor Bobby Blum .
